Can­di­date Bio — Andrei Volodin

Andrei Volodin is a Pro­fes­sor of Sta­tis­tics at the Uni­ver­si­ty of Regi­na. His research has focused pri­mar­i­ly on Math­e­mat­i­cal Sta­tis­tics and Prob­a­bil­i­ty The­o­ry, though his cur­rent work has expand­ed to Applied Sta­tis­tics. Andrei’s research pro­gram revolves around a com­mon theme: asymp­tot­ics (expan­sion of a sta­tis­tic or of a distribution).

Andrei received his PhD in Math­e­mat­ics from Vil­nius Uni­ver­si­ty in Lithua­nia and his PhD in Sta­tis­tics from the Uni­ver­si­ty of Regi­na. He spent two years work­ing as a Pro­fes­sor of Sta­tis­tics at the Uni­ver­si­ty of West­ern Aus­tralia and cur­rent­ly serves as an Adjunct Pro­fes­sor at Tham­masat Uni­ver­si­ty in Thailand. 

Andrei arrived at the Uni­ver­si­ty of Regi­na in 1999 as a PhD stu­dent. In 2000, he start­ed to work as a ses­sion­al instruc­tor at the Uni­ver­si­ty of Regi­na, First Nations Uni­ver­si­ty of Cana­da and Saskatchewan Poly­tech­nic. Andrei was hired by the Uni­ver­si­ty of Regi­na as a tenure-track Assis­tant Pro­fes­sor in 2002. In 2005 he was pro­mot­ed to the lev­el tenured Asso­ciate Pro­fes­sor and in 2012 he obtained Full Pro­fes­sor sta­tus at the Depart­ment of Math­e­mat­ics and Sta­tis­tics, Uni­ver­si­ty of Regina.

Cur­rent­ly Andrei is the Trustee for the Uni­ver­si­ty of Regi­na Fac­ul­ty Asso­ci­a­tion Trust Fund start­ing from Sep­tem­ber 2017. He is apply­ing for this posi­tion for the next term.
